[Document and letter] / Saml Shute. 1717-1721.

Document, 1717 Nov. 2. Military commission for John Thaxter. Shute, as "Governour in Chief ... of the Massachusetts-Bay in New-England," appoints John Thaxter as "cornet of the Troop of Horse where of John Norton, Gent. is Captain." Signed and sealed, at Boston "... in the fourth year of the reign of His Majesty King George." Also signed by John Boydell, secretary to Shute. -- Letter, 1721 Nov. 13, Boston. To the Justices at Plymouth, urging them to renew the license of Mr. Cushman, who has a house of entertainment and lodgings.
